Teresa Maru-Munlo

Board Chairperson

Ms. Teresa Maru-Munlo is the current Chairperson of the Board of FINCA Microfinance Bank Nigeria and is also the Chairperson of the Board of FINCA Zambia. Ms. Munlo has a strong governance experience having served as a director on three boards in three countries for more than a decade, with 8 years as a chairperson of the Board. While on the Board she has served in several board committees including credit, risk governance and nomination committees.

By profession, Ms. Munlo is a consultant with a focus on rural finance and financial inclusion, with experience covering East, South and West Africa. Additionally, Ms. Munlo has experience in Training and Institutional Capacity Building, Planning, Reporting Writing, Project Design and Project Evaluation. Before the Board roles Ms. Munlo served in several fulltime capacities in different financial institutions and projects in Kenya, Uganda, and Malawi before settling into fulltime consulting, partnering with various international organizations supporting development finance initiatives in various countries over 25 years, with a focus on training, institutional capacity building, project design/implementation, project management and project evaluation.

Ms. Munlo holds an MBA with specialization in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi and bachelor’s degree Business Administration from Newport University. She acquired additional training in Practical Skills & Tools for Microfinance – School of Applied Microfinance Kenya; Microfinance best practice training – Naropa University, Colorado USA; Managing Enterprise Development – Cranfield University, United Kingdom etc.
